Oregon CDL Practice Test and Test Prep (2026)

Oregon gives CDL tests through Oregon Driver and Motor Vehicle Services (DMV), a division of the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT). Here is what you will be tested on, which of our practice quizzes match each test, and what the skills test involves in Oregon.

Our practice questions are original and based on the national model CDL manual, not aOregon-specific question bank or real exam questions. Passing practice does not guarantee a test result.Check Oregon requirements and source notes.

Oregon endorsement tests and practice

  • Hazmat (H) practice
    Oregon notes for this endorsement

Hazmat. Oregon is NOT a TSA self-managed state — you use the standard federal TSA process: pass the hazmat knowledge test, complete ELDT if first-time, and complete TSA security threat assessment/fingerprinting through TSA's contractor (start at the TSA website or Universal Enrollment Services, 855-347-8371). The background check can take 60 days or more.

  • Tanker (N) practice
    Oregon notes for this endorsement

Tank vehicle endorsement (liquids/gases in bulk). Requires the tank knowledge test.

  • Passenger (P) practice
    Oregon notes for this endorsement

Passenger. Requires ELDT for first-timers; Oregon passenger endorsements currently carry a restriction (M or N) limiting the passenger vehicle class.

  • School bus (S) practice
    Oregon notes for this endorsement

School bus. Requires ELDT for first-timers plus the passenger and school bus knowledge and skills requirements.

  • Doubles/triples (T) practice
    Oregon notes for this endorsement

Doubles/triples. Requires a Class A CDL and the doubles/triples knowledge test.

The Oregon skills test

Components: Pre-trip vehicle inspection, Basic control skills, On-road driving test.

Test vehicle: You must provide your own commercial vehicle representative of the class of CLP you hold; DMV/testers do not furnish a test vehicle. The vehicle must match the class, endorsements, and restrictions you are testing for.

Where and how to book: Oregon leans heavily on certified Third Party CDL Testers — applicants schedule the skills test directly with a third-party tester rather than a DMV field office. Tests are given in English only; translators are not permitted.

Waits and retests: Availability depends on the individual third-party tester's schedule; testers often set their own fees on top of the DMV's $40 third-party acceptance fee. Confirm current wait times with your tester (estimated market conditions, not a DMV-published figure).

Practice the inspection part with our pre-trip inspection guide. Research dated 2026-07-20; confirm testing details with Oregon.
