Oklahoma CDL Practice Test and Test Prep (2026)
Oklahoma gives CDL tests through Service Oklahoma. Here is what you will be tested on, which of our practice quizzes match each test, and what the skills test involves in Oklahoma.
Knowledge tests for a Oklahoma permit
- Vision screening (given at the same appointment as the written test)
- General Knowledge (all applicants) — practice General Knowledge (60 questions)
- Combination Vehicles (Class A) — practice Combination Vehicles (30 questions)
- Air Brakes (if your vehicle has them) — practice Air Brakes (40 questions)
- Any endorsement tests you need (P, S, H, N, T)
Permit minimum age: 18 (in-state driving) or 21 (interstate). Holding period before the skills test: 14 days. Permit validity: confirm with the agency.
Oklahoma endorsement tests and practice
- Hazmat (H) practice
Oklahoma notes for this endorsement
Hazardous materials. Oklahoma is NOT a TSA self-managed state, so it uses the standard TSA process: pass the hazmat knowledge test (Section 9 of the CDL manual) and, for first-timers, complete hazmat ELDT, then enroll for the TSA Security Threat Assessment and fingerprinting at a TSA/IdentoGO enrollment center (TSA fee $85.25). The state issues the endorsement only after TSA clears you.
- Tanker (N) practice
Oklahoma notes for this endorsement
Tank vehicle. Requires a knowledge test; can be added to a CDL or CLP (CLP holders can't carry a loaded tanker — 'X' restriction).
- Passenger (P) practice
Oklahoma notes for this endorsement
Passenger. First-time P requires ELDT and a skills test in a passenger vehicle; CLP holders can't carry passengers ('P' restriction).
- School bus (S) practice
Oklahoma notes for this endorsement
School bus. First-time S requires ELDT and generally the passenger (P) path plus a school-bus skills test.
- Doubles/triples (T) practice
Oklahoma notes for this endorsement
Double/triple trailers. Knowledge test only; available on a CDL (not a CLP).
The Oklahoma skills test
Components: Pre-trip vehicle inspection, Basic vehicle control skills (backing maneuvers), On-road driving test.
Test vehicle: Service Oklahoma does not supply a test vehicle — you must bring your own commercial vehicle representative of the class and type of CDL you are seeking, with valid registration and insurance.
Where and how to book: Service Oklahoma has long relied on approved third-party examiners and CDL schools, who can administer drive tests for most Class A, B, and C applicants (some restrictions apply). You can schedule a drive test at a Service Oklahoma office via the online 'Save Your Spot' scheduler, or arrange testing directly with an approved third-party examiner. Service Oklahoma publishes an official list of third-party CDL schools and examiners.
Waits and retests: Third-party examiners are the main route Oklahoma drivers use to test, and some schools only test their own enrolled students — contact them directly. Wait times vary by location and season; confirm current availability with Service Oklahoma or your chosen examiner (estimated observation, not a published figure).
Practice the inspection part with our pre-trip inspection guide. Research dated 2026-10-12; confirm testing details with Oklahoma.
